AMR wants you to be a responsible skier and snowboarder. It is safer and will give you a better experience on the hill. Here is the Colorado law regarding skiing and snowboarding and some tips on how you can be more careful and better prepared while out on the mountain.
Colorado Ski Act of 1970 -
- Always stay in control, and be able to stop or avoid other people or objects.
- People ahead of you have the right of way. It is your responsibility to avoid them.
- You must not stop where you obstruct a trail, or are not visible from above.
- Whenever starting downhill or merging into a trail, look uphill and yield to others.
- Always use devices to help prevent runaway equipment.
- Observe all posted signs and warnings. Keep off closed trails and out of closed areas.
- Prior to using any lift, you must have the knowledge and ability to load, ride and unload safely.
KNOW THE CODE. IT'S YOUR RESPONSIBILITY.
Tips for safer riding - If you're passing someone on the hill yell out "Passin' on the right (or left)!" The downhill skier has the right of way; if traversing a catwalk or cutting across a run always look up to make sure no one is heading down your way so you don't cut anyone off.
Things you should have while on the Mountain -
